Kira Gillanders
Kira has felt a strong connection to animals her entire life. After debating between Psychology or Animal Health Technology, her love of animals won out and she graduated from Thompson Rivers University in 2019.
Kira enjoys learning about animal behaviour and has taken multiple continuing educations courses on the topic. This helps her ensure that every patient that walks through our door goes home with a good experience. Kira loves to connect with the owners of our patients and educate them on their pet’s body language, behaviour, and handling. This helps create low stress visits for both the patient and their family so that everyone can feel relaxed and happy and look forward to seeing us again! Kira is a strong believer in passionate care and handling, and treats every patient as if they were her own.
When not at work, Kira enjoys reading, gardening, crafts, markets, and spending time outdoors. She loves to travel with her husband Scott, and has had the opportunity to visit Mexico, Ecuador, Jamaica, Ireland, Japan, and places around BC and Alberta! She strives to have at least one experience a year, whether small or large. When not travelling, there’s never a dull moment in her household. This is ensured by her three kitties Athena, Artemis, and Eros, as well as her bearded dragon Kai!
