First class care starts with making sure our patients are treated as our own. We focus on integrity and compassion and make sure everything we do is with sincere concern and unwavering kindness.

Surgery

When your pet is staying with us, you know that they are being treated like one of our own. Under continual monitoring and using the latest equipment and techniques,  we are able to provide safe and outstanding care tailored to your pet’s needs. Surgical procedures that are offered include:

  • Neuter and Spays
  • Abdominal Surgery- removal of foreign material, gastropexy
  • Soft Tissue Surgery- mass removal, wound repair
  • Don’t see what you’re looking for? Call and ask!

We know anesthesia and surgery can be scary for our clients. We always use customized anesthesia and pain control protocols for your specific pet to keep everything as safe and comfortable as possible. During surgery, we employ equipment that closely monitors multiple parameters to insure the stability and health of your pet.:

  • Heart Beat
  • Respiration Rate
  • Blood Pressure
  • Carbon Dioxide Levels
  • Oxygenation Levels
  • Body Temperature

Before surgery we like to sit down and discuss the risks/rewards of surgery so you are comfortable making an informed decision. We want to walk you through the procedure so you understand what will happen step by step. It is also important that we discuss what you need to do to prepare your pet for surgery and how to take care of them after! The surgery is only one part of the recipe for success! What happens at home before and after is VERY important to the success of the surgery and the well being of your pet! Every animal heals differently-we are always here to answer any questions or concerns you might have! You and your pet are part of the Range Road family, never hesitate to call us.

Dentistry
Dentistry is an up and coming area of veterinary medicine as we learn more about the effect of a healthy mouth on kidney, liver and heart health. Beyond the health benefits, a diseased mouth can be very painful for your pet and painful for your nose!  Your dental care plan starts with a dental exam, so we understand what is going on in your pets mouth. This gives us a chance to discuss the dental  procedure, as well as go through home care options to help keep your pet’s breath and teeth fresh.

Just like in humans, dental care and maintenance is always a good idea! Your pet’s dental cleaning consists of technician that is dedicated to the care of your pet while they are with us. Dental cleanings are completed under anesthesia to give us the opportunity to do a thorough clean and polish. It is impossible and unethical to clean an awake animal, it only causes unnecessary pain and stress.

The cleaning consists of removing the tartar on the tooth and under the gumline (this is the important part!). This is followed by a polish, making the teeth shiny and providing a protective layer to help keep the teeth cleaner longer.  Your pet will also get complete xrays to check out what is hiding under the gumline (lots of problems can’t be seen with the naked eye, this is an important step to identify any problems or sources of pain. If we think removing some teeth will benefit your pet, that is the next step! We always check in with you to let you know what we are seeing and insure you are comfortable with the treatment plan.

Wellness
Our wellness services are focused on providing a solid foundation to assist your pet through every life stage with integrity and compassion. By keeping your puppy or kitten healthy, we set them up for a long healthy life by your side. Every office visit and physical exam is individualized to your specific goals and needs of your pet. With a focus on discussion and goal planning, we can make sure we are all on the same page with every aspect of your animal’s care. We want to work with you to understand your goals and your pet’s lifestyle in order to make the best recommendations for you.

Routine visits allow us the opportunity to stay on top of your pet’s care, as well as build a long and trusted relationship with our clients so that we can provide personalized support. These visits also help us to be proactive. Recognizing many conditions earlier can often save money, as well as provide us with the best opportunity to help your pet before the mild concern becomes something more significant. Your wellness appointments are tailored to your questions or concerns-we want you to feel confident and empowered when caring for your animals! We will also focus on a few core aspects such as:

  • Wellness education
  • Vaccination
  • Microchipping
  • Dewormer and parasite control
  • Nutrition counselling
  • Behavioural counselling
  • Weight management (no judgment here, we’ve all been there!)
Quality of Life
It’s hard to know when it is time to say goodbye. You know your pet the best, but sometimes it helps to have a medical professional assess for signs of pain or decreased quality of life. We can take the time to discuss your options and answer any questions you might have while deciding what is best for your pet and your family. Euthanasia is done as an act of love, although difficult, ending pain and suffering can be the greatest kindness for our loved pets. We will always do our best to make this time as comfortable and stress free as possible, both in clinic and in your home.
Diagnostics

While we hope you only have to visit for routine wellness exams and preventatives, if your pet is ever feeling under the weather, we are here to support and assist you. After collecting a thorough history and performing a physical exam, we may need the help of diagnostics to determine the underlying cause for your pet’s illness. In order to get a complete view of your pet’s health, we have many tools at our disposal:

  • In-house or send out Bloodwork
  • Digital X-ray, Urinalysis
  • Fecal Testing
  • Referral for advanced testing
